ENT Treatments at Royal
Our Ear, Nose & Throat department covers the full spectrum of ENT care — from diagnostic hearing assessments and minor ear procedures to complex sinus surgery and head & neck surgery. Select any treatment below to learn more.
Tonsillectomy — Paediatric
Surgical removal of the tonsils in children, performed under general anaesthesia. Recommended for recurrent tonsillitis, obstructive sleep apnoea, or significant airway obstruction affecting breathing, sleeping, and eating.
Adenoidectomy
Surgical removal of the adenoids — lymphatic tissue at the back of the nasal cavity. Commonly performed in children to relieve nasal obstruction, recurrent ear and sinus infections, and breathing difficulties during sleep.
Grommet Insertion
A myringotomy combined with placement of a small ventilation tube (grommet) into the eardrum. Used to drain persistent fluid from the middle ear (glue ear) and restore hearing — one of the most commonly performed procedures in children.
Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)
Minimally invasive surgery using a nasal endoscope to open and clear blocked sinuses, restoring normal drainage and ventilation. FESS is the gold-standard treatment for chronic sinusitis and recurrent sinus infections that do not respond to medication.
Audiometry
A comprehensive hearing test that measures the range and sensitivity of a patient's hearing across different frequencies. Used to diagnose hearing loss, auditory disorders, and to guide treatment planning — suitable for all ages including infants.
Septoplasty
Surgical straightening of a deviated nasal septum to improve nasal airflow and breathing. Septoplasty corrects the internal structure of the nose without altering its external appearance, relieving chronic nasal obstruction, snoring, and sleep-related breathing difficulties.
Tympanoplasty
Surgical repair or reconstruction of a perforated eardrum and/or the small bones of the middle ear. Tympanoplasty restores hearing, prevents recurrent ear infections, and closes the perforation to protect the middle ear from further damage.
Mastoidectomy
Surgical removal of infected or damaged mastoid air cells (the bone directly behind the ear) to treat chronic ear infection, cholesteatoma, or complications of otitis media. Mastoidectomy prevents the spread of infection to surrounding structures.
Stapedectomy
Surgical removal and replacement of the stapes bone — one of the three tiny ossicles in the middle ear — with a prosthesis. Performed to restore hearing lost due to otosclerosis, a condition where the stapes becomes fixed and cannot vibrate normally.
Turbinoplasty
Surgical reshaping or reduction of the nasal turbinates — structures inside the nose that regulate airflow and humidify air. Turbinoplasty relieves chronic nasal obstruction, reduces congestion, and improves breathing when turbinate enlargement does not respond to medication.
Nasal Polypectomy
Surgical removal of nasal polyps — soft, non-cancerous growths in the nasal lining or sinuses that cause chronic congestion, reduced sense of smell, and recurrent sinusitis. Polypectomy restores nasal breathing and is often combined with FESS for best results.
Tonsillectomy — Adult
Surgical removal of the tonsils in adult patients, performed under general anaesthesia. Indicated for recurrent or chronic tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, suspected tonsillar pathology, or airway obstruction contributing to snoring and sleep apnoea.
Adenotonsillectomy
Combined surgical removal of both the adenoids and tonsils in a single procedure under general anaesthesia. Commonly performed in children with recurrent throat infections, obstructive sleep apnoea, or significant airway obstruction affecting quality of life.
Tympanometry
A diagnostic test that assesses the health and mobility of the eardrum and middle ear by measuring how the eardrum responds to changes in air pressure. Used to detect fluid behind the eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, and perforations — often performed alongside audiometry.
Microlaryngeal Surgery
Surgery on the larynx (voice box) performed under a microscope via a rigid laryngoscope. Used to remove benign lesions, polyps, cysts, nodules, or papillomas from the vocal cords — restoring voice quality and treating hoarseness or voice loss.
